Vivaldi’s Gloria

Orchestral Series
26 November 2025
Melbourne

Genesis Baroque makes its Elisabeth Murdoch Hall debut as it joins forces with the illustrious Choir of Trinity College. This program of deep musical devotion opens with Vivaldi’s eternally dazzling Gloria. Bursting with sunlit joy and dancing rhythms, the opening movement right through to the final notes perfectly showcase why this work is so adored by audiences.

The haunting Salve Regina then draws listeners into a word of melancholic beauty as interwoven soprano and alto voices float above shimmering strings. Finally, two of J.S. Bach’s most deeply personal compositions round out this radiant program of Baroque masterworks: his heart-wrenching but redemptive cantata Ich habe genug, and the joyous Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied, with its spectacular eight-part double choir.
