NextGen is Genesis Baroque’s multi-streamed education program, providing access to music education, development, and performance opportunities in historically informed performance (HIP) for young people across Victoria. NextGen incorporates opportunities for young primary school-aged children, emerging professional musicians, and collaborative performance projects and workshops.

NextGen Kids

NextGen Kids is an interactive music performance for young children.

Developed by four of Genesis Baroque’s core musicians, the performance actively engages young children in exploring early music concepts of gesture and improvisation in a playful, immersive, imaginative musical performance.

NextGen Kids has been developed for early primary school children, and designed for schools and community spaces across Victoria.

NextGen Performance Projects

Genesis Baroque’s commitment to engaging and educating young musicians in HIP practices includes collaborations with musical training institutions to develop and present performance projects.

ANAM at the Convent: Genesis Baroque with Sara Macliver

In May 2025, Genesis Baroque will engage in a week-long residency at the Australian National Academy of Music alongside soprano Sara Macliver, involving workshops, masterclasses, and a collaborative public performance with ANAM musicians, Genesis Baroque, and Macliver, directed by Donald Nicolson.

St Mark Passion with the Australian Boys Choir

Genesis Baroque is also delighted to embark on a landmark three-year J.S. Bach Passion Project with the Australian Boys Choir and Director Nicholas Dinopoulos. The first year of this project consists of the first Australian performances of Robert Koolstra’s reconstruction of J.S. Bach’s St Mark Passion in March 2025.
